Our Story

For decades, Far East Restaurant has been a beloved cornerstone of Montgomery County, proudly serving both residential and business communities. Established in 1974 by Shing Wai Wong, our family-owned and operated restaurant has been continuously managed by the Wong family, moving to our current location in 1985 and expanding from 1,500 to over 11,000 square feet. Today, David Wong continues our cherished tradition of Chinese culinary excellence. Our dining area, rich with original Chinese cultural artistry, reflects our deep roots in the community. We warmly welcome every guest, offering special bookings for large parties of 20 to 225 guests, perfect for family events, business conferences, or retirement celebrations. Join us at Far East Restaurant, where history, community, and exceptional cuisine come together

Our Specialties

At Far East Restaurant, our specialties include the beloved Long Island Peking Duck, hand-carved and wrapped in Chinese pancakes—a family favorite! In the 1980s, we expanded our menu to include Hunan and Szechuan dishes, known for their bold flavors crafted with garlic and a variety of regional Chinese peppers. Embracing our heritage, we introduced a Cantonese Dim Sum menu in 2013, allowing our customers in the DMV to enjoy Far East Dim Sum daily until 3pm. We invite you to visit us and savor crowd favorites like “Don Tot” (egg custard tarts) and “Har Gow” (shrimp balls). Join us and experience the flavors that have made us a cherished part of the community for decades.

In 2013, Far East Restaurant began offering a Cantonese Dim Sum menu. Since then, customers in the DMV have enjoyed Far East Dim Sum not just on the weekends but also daily until 3pm.
